Integration · GitHub Copilot
Connect GitHub Copilot in VS Code to ScreenTap and Copilot's agent mode can use your real iPhone to check the app you're building.
Set up
Copilot's agent mode in VS Code. Add ScreenTap to .vscode/mcp.json.
Open ScreenTap
The MCP server runs while the ScreenTap app is open. You need GitHub Copilot in VS Code.
Add ScreenTap
For one project, create .vscode/mcp.json. For everywhere, run “MCP: Open User Configuration” from the command palette. VS Code uses "servers", not "mcpServers".
{
"servers": {
"screentap": { "type": "http", "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47811/mcp" }
}
}Start the server
Click Start above the screentap entry in mcp.json, or run “MCP: List Servers” and start it there.
Try it
Open Copilot Chat, switch to Agent mode, check the tools button lists ScreenTap, and ask:
Take a screenshot of my iPhone and tell me what's on screen.Full guide with troubleshooting: GitHub Copilot in VS Code in the docs.
Things to try
Open my app on the iPhone and check that the login flow works.
Take a screenshot of the home screen of my app and compare it to the design.
More in the prompt library.
Good to know
Yes, in Agent mode in VS Code. With ScreenTap added to mcp.json, Copilot can take screenshots, tap and type on your iPhone.
Other integrations
