How agents connect
ScreenTap offers two ways in. The guides use the right one for each agent.
- HTTP: the agent connects to the running app at
http://127.0.0.1:47811/mcp. - stdio: for agents that can only start a program, they run the app with
--stdio, which hands everything over to the running app.
Streamable HTTP http://127.0.0.1:47811/mcp
stdio /Applications/ScreenTap.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenTap --stdioEither way, keep the ScreenTap app open. The server only listens on your own Mac, so the agent must run on the same Mac. The same commands and configs are in the app under Connect an agent, ready to copy.
