Connect your agent

Set up Codex

Add a server block to config.toml.

  1. 1

    Open the config file

    Codex reads MCP servers from ~/.codex/config.toml. Create the file if it doesn't exist.

  2. 2

    Add ScreenTap

    Add this block anywhere in the file.

    ~/.codex/config.toml
    [mcp_servers.screentap]
    command = "/Applications/ScreenTap.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenTap"
    args = ["--stdio"]
  3. 3

    Try it

    Start a new Codex session and ask:

    Prompt
    Take a screenshot of my iPhone and tell me what's on screen.

Good to know

  • Codex starts local programs for its MCP servers, so it uses the app's stdio mode. Keep the ScreenTap app open too.
  • The Codex CLI and the Codex IDE extension share this config file.

Not working?

Check that the ScreenTap app is open and your iPhone is connected, then restart your agent or start a new session. More fixes in Troubleshooting.
